In 2009, Brazil exported $4.6 billion worth of goods to the Gulf countries. The first two major categories of exports are residential and construction products, and food and beverage products. The third category is automotive products, with exports in 2009 of $5.93 million.
The Gulf Cooperation Council countries include the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc.
Car sales in the Gulf countries began to pick up in the second quarter of 2009, and their performance continued to exceed market expectations. Brazil is particularly optimistic about countries such as the United Arab Emirates, where per capita income is very high, the economic situation is stable, but the local auto industry is lacking.
A number of Brazilian industries, including the auto parts industry, will also participate in the Brasil Trade 2010 fair held in Dubai on May 9-11, 2010 to explore more business and investment opportunities in the Middle East market.
