Shen Jian Technology was founded in 2016 by Tsinghua University and Stanford University's top deep learning hardware acceleration researchers. In early 2017, it completed the tens of millions of dollars of Series A financing led by MediaTek, the world's largest FPGA chip maker, and MediaTek (MTK), one of the world's largest mobile phone chip manufacturers.
At the end of October 2017, six new products were released at the Shenjian Technology New Product Launch Conference, which is mainly for a series of products that provide intelligent services, performance improvement and power consumption reduction for AI applications such as security. At the same time, Shenjian Technology announced that it has completed the A+ round of financing, about 40 million US dollars. This round of financing was led by Ant Financial and Samsung Ventures. China Merchants Ventures and Huachuang Capital followed the investment, in order to accelerate the completion of commercial closed-loop injection of capital power.
Shen Jian, founder and CEO of Shenjian Technology, said that part of this round of financing will continue to be used for product development and marketing in the field of security and big data, and to put more terminal products and services for security monitoring. On the other hand, the injection of strategic resources from Ant Financial will help to further explore more application scenarios including finance; and Samsung will focus on storage and other aspects to create a deep learning processor for AI chips. As the core intelligent solution and efficient overall system, in order to broaden the scope and product landing, accelerate Shenjian Technology into the commercialization stage.
The neural network compression technology and neural network hardware architecture developed by Shen Jian Technology attracted Samsung's attention, but did not disclose the amount of this investment. According to informed sources, just a few months ago, South Korean telecommunications operator SK Telecom also paid close attention to Shenjian’s AI business and proposed investment intentions, but the latter refused.
