Research progress on the exposure and growth mechanism of iron oxide crystal surface in Qinghai Salt Lake Institute

Iron oxide is a base material for magnetic adsorbents. Research on iron oxides has attracted people's attention.

Under the support of the National Science Foundation of Qinghai Province and Qinghai Province, the researchers of the Qinghai Salt Lake Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences found that in the presence of potassium ferricyanide alone, iron oxide grows rapidly along the [110] direction, and under the action of organic amines, Its growth direction turns to a rapid growth in the [100] direction.

In response to this change, the researchers believe that the growth of iron oxide is different from the growth mode of traditional crystals. It is proposed that the generation of iron oxide depends on the charge of different hydroxyl groups on the surface, and the adsorption of iron ions is selected, and hydrolysis occurs on the surface to form the final Iron oxide product. The relevant research work was published in the Chemical News.
