The limitations are mainly manifested in four aspects: combined explosion or a large number of interactive questions and answers, which limits the number of components of the target product; only considering the translation along the coordinate axis direction, the assembly movement mode is too simple; Emphasis on geometric calculation, the use of engineering semantic knowledge needs to be strengthened; the selection criteria of assembly sequence are not extensive and uniform;

4) Basic theoretical research on virtual assembly. There is still no theoretical basis for tolerance analysis and synthesis technology in virtual assembly. Existing tolerance analysis and integrated software still have many problems in model generation and support for ISO tolerance standards and support for geometric tolerances. the study;

5) Research on virtual test technology. Virtual testing is a key part of the successful use of virtual product development technology, because under the existing technical conditions, the unit model is indispensable for the product, process or system, testing and verification. Testing and verification also have a significant impact on the efficiency of virtual product development. VMT is a higher stage of CAD/CAE/CAM technology development, and is also a product of computer graphics technology and simulation technology development. It has important research and application significance for product development. Since the functions of commercial VMT related software and hardware systems are still limited and expensive, developing a virtual manufacturing system with low cost and complete functions should become one of the important contents of VMT development. The developed content includes anthropomorphic user interface. Event-based real-time simulation engine, virtual peripheral hardware interface, virtual simulation language, data universal conversion interface with traditional CAD software, various databases and tool libraries.

2 Current research hotspots of VM
