Guangxi and ASEAN Strong Growth in Imports and Exports of Mineral Products

In recent years, with the increasingly close economic and trade cooperation between China and ASEAN, especially the completion of the free trade zone, Guangxi's import and export trade with ASEAN has grown rapidly. Mineral products have become one of the major commodities for import and export between Guangxi and ASEAN.

Relevant statistical data show that since 2005, except for the impact of the financial crisis in 2009, the import and export trade of mineral products between Guangxi and ASEAN has maintained an annual growth of more than 20%, of which the growth in 2006 and 2007 reached 160.5% and 83.5%, a year-on-year increase of 58.1% in 2010.

Since 2005, the total import and export volume of mineral products between Guangxi and ASEAN reached US$4.558 billion, of which US$4.02 billion was imported and US$5.4 billion was exported. Imports mainly come from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and other countries; exports mainly include Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. The mineral products imported from ASEAN mainly include liquefied petroleum gas, iron, coal, manganese, lead, etc. The mineral products and manufactured products exported to ASEAN include barite, talc, and silicon.

The major enterprises in which Guangxi imports more mineral products from ASEAN are Liusteel Co., Ltd., Hechi Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Smelting Co., Ltd., and Oriental Resources Co., Ltd.; the enterprises that export more mineral products include Guangxi Tiansheng Port Co., Ltd. and Guilin Hardware. Minerals Import and Export Corporation, Fangchenggang Jingyuan Mining Investment Co., Ltd., etc.
