South African scientists invent high-tech improved huts
According to China Daily News, iphone and ipad are not unusual, but have you ever seen another i-Series product, iShack? Researchers at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, recently invented a high-tech improved shed (iShack) designed to ease poverty in the country and its surrounding areas. The iShack high-tech sheds are high-tech achievements that use modern techniques to transform ancient designs. This improved shed is not only structurally stable, but also equipped with enough solar collector plates. The solar energy absorbed during the day will be used for lighting at night or for charging important devices such as mobile phones. The installation of windows can improve the circulation of air in the house. The roof is also designed as an inclined surface to collect rainwater; the walls are made of recycled materials; the floors laid with bricks are conducive to maintaining a constant temperature inside the house, and the flame-retardant paint can reduce the risk of fire. According to statistics of the United Nations, in the sub-Saharan region, about 62% of the residents live in slums or temporary shantytowns. The Bill Gates Foundation will provide grants.
