Domestically produced synthetic diamonds have undergone several major developments and are now among the best in the world in terms of scale. However, due to the backwardness of production technology, the grade of synthetic diamond is very low. Therefore, it is still quite a long way to compete with foreign companies at high grades.
The existing diamond production equipment in China is mostly a six-face press, but this press has inherent defects in precision, tonnage and pressurization, plus the raw and auxiliary materials and peripheral technologies of domestic synthetic diamonds in recent years. The research and development efforts are not enough, thus hindering the development of domestic high-grade diamonds. The current situation in China is that although synthetic diamond products are exported, they are mainly digested domestically. A large part of it is the processing of building materials, mainly for stone processing.
According to the domestic production of synthetic diamonds, there are basically two major categories: powder catalyst plus carbon and traditional sheet-like catalyst plus carbon sheet production. Nowadays, the powder production method has a tendency to gradually expand, but it also has its own obstacles, which is particularly prominent in the domestic consumer market.

The diamond produced by the powder production method has the advantages of neat crystal shape and good transparency on high-strength materials. China's stone industry now has its own unique use of diamond products, which requires a long service life, of course, this is only a slight loss of efficiency. However, the diamond produced by the powder method has certain problems in this respect. A stone manufacturer has conducted a comparative test, that is, using the same quality powder method and the diamond produced by the sheet method to make a saw blade to cut the stone. Under the same conditions, the diamond produced by the diamond method is more diamond-like than that produced by the sheet method. It is no wonder that the domestic stone industry does not like the diamond produced by the powder method because they still see a very intuitive benefit. Therefore, there is a phenomenon in the domestic market that the diamond produced by the powder is 0.08-0.1 yuan/carat lower than the diamond produced in the same grade. It can be seen from the above phenomenon that the diamond produced by the powder still has some shortcomings that cannot be overcome temporarily: high magnetic material and low thermal stability. In addition, there is a requirement that the powder production has high control precision for the press, so it can only be produced on the newly produced large tonnage press, otherwise the control system must be modified. If the precision of the control system is low, then according to the characteristics of the powder production (pressure and temperature conditions tend to be consistent in the synthesis chamber), it is possible that the diamond irregular crystals produced by the entire synthesis chamber are mostly. This greatly affects economic efficiency. The characteristics of sheet production are characterized by a slightly larger temperature difference. As long as the pressure temperature is given properly, there will always be good grain yield, and this ratio will increase as the control accuracy increases. And with the deepening of the understanding of the sheet production method, if the control precision is also increased to the requirements of the powder method production, the economic benefits produced will not be lower than the powder method, and the production cost of the sheet method is low, and the produced diamond is produced. The crystal form can be controlled, which is more suitable for the needs of the domestic market. Therefore, the flaky production method does not have a future as some people think. On the contrary, the second spring of the flaky method is coming.

Some data produced by the flake method are now listed for reference. Carbon film Xinzheng, catalyst Sany, cavity φ25mm, yield 12.5 carats / block, RVD shape less than 15%. High-strength material is more than 35%, peak 40/50, 40/60 coarse-grain ratio is more than 68%, color yellow is deep, crystal is close to spherical, and six-octahedron is less. The equipment is 6×10MN press. The above data has been repeated many times, and there is little difference between them. Basically, stable production can reach this standard. From the above situation, the economic benefits of the sheet-like production as long as the control accuracy is improved.

A breakthrough in the flaky catalyst on the six-sided top press has been promoted to the market and recognized by diamond manufacturers. Compared with the traditional 0.4mm catalyst, the flake catalyst has the large reaction area and the advantage of high yield, with φ25 For example, the production of thin-film catalyst can be 15-16ct, the output value of single rod is more than 2 yuan higher than that of 0.4mm, and the cost is not much different. The quality of diamond produced is basically the same as that of 0.4mm catalyst. It is believed that the thin-film catalyst will become a powerful pillar for the small press to get rid of the predicament, and it will also bring higher economic benefits to the large cavity.
