Caesar Aluminum intends to close Tulsa aluminum extrusion plant in Oklahoma

Caesar Aluminum announced on the 18th of this month that it plans to close its extrusion plant at Tulsa Aluminum Plant in Oklahoma and reduce the production capacity of the Bellwood aluminum plant in Virginia. It is expected that about 170 people will face layoffs.

Tulsa Aluminum Plant and Bellwood Aluminum Plant mainly produce seamless aluminum tubes and seamless aluminum rods. The products are mainly used in construction machinery and equipment. Caesar Aluminum stated that layoffs are based on the continuing deterioration of the economic situation and market conditions, however, the company will continue to supply seamless pipes, seamless rods and drive shafts for the automotive and other industries.

It is reported that production cuts and layoffs will be completed in early 2009.
